radius of curvature beam bending 2017-07 - Revised Reservoir Scour Pipe Discharge (Penstock 100% open)

Simulation of revised reservoir scour pipe discharge by OpenFOAM at flow of Q = 150 m3/s.

Simulation is carried out under the following conditions.
- The energy dissipation is by flip bucket spillway
- Radius of curvature of the uplift = 25.7m
- Diameter of scour pipe = 2.5m
- Maximum speed in simulation around 38 m/s (almost 140 km/h)

The radius of curvature of the spillway is increased from 10m to 25.7m. It is found that the revised spillway design eliminates water shooting up vertically effectively.
