openfoam gui 2017-09 - Baffle Drop Shaft

Simulation of baffle drop shaft by OpenFOAM under the following conditions:

- Total Q = 4m3/s
- Higher inlet pipe diameter = 1.07m
- Lower inlet pipe diameter = 1.68m
- Outlet pipe diameter = 1.5m
- Diameter of drop shaft = 7.62m

It is interesting for baffle drop shaft to allow multiple inlets at different heights, which is not possible for vortex type drop shaft. Water flows down the cascade and keeps on dissipating energy and removing entrained air. Unlike vortex drop shaft, air entrainment appears to be less and may be it doesn't need to have both air vent and de-aeration chamber at the bottom.
